Cameras not being warned

Ok,

I went past a Gatso located in Glanmor Rd, Swansea, which has been there for several years, and expected a warning on my Garmin i3, but I did not get any warning.

I have had this repeated whilst travelling from Hitchin to Gloucester a few weeks back, passing several Gatsos (fortunately easily visible) and no warning.

What do I need to do to get a warning on all cameras?, as some are reported.

Hi,

Don't have a garmin afraid. But have had similar on my TT720 (using PGPSW cameras). Usually happens after I have loaded the update. Thinking here of the 50mph camera at the Polish War memorial on the A40, and again going up through Trealaw and Tonypandy, a couple of fixed 30s don't warn.
I have sorted it on my TT by doing a soft reset, no idea what causes it.

Don't know if this will work on a Garmin.

I believe I was a little over approaching the camera, but slowed to under because of it.

I'll try again in a few days and see what happens.

If i recall correctly the i3 didn't alert by default unless you were over the speed limit approaching the camera.

GATSO:2078@30, Heading:0, Single Direction

It could be that no-one has given this camera a 'heading' and it is still located 'off road' where the camera may be - but not on the point of 'capture'.

I thought that the rule was to put the icon on the 'point of capture' not on overhead bridges, in the layby and 'off-road' and only on the Google Map.

As I'm writing this I just realized I passed this camera this morning and it warned me [Garmin Oregon heading 80 ] - but through personal experience it is on the wrong side of the road. I was doing 26mph on my track!

I will update the position and give it the heading.

On satelite view you can see the camera and road markings!

There have been conflicting responses to this post. My money is on PaulB2005's answer - the next release won't make any difference; it's the speed at which you approach the camera which is most relevant.

Gatso2078@30 has the following details in my Garmin units:-
Alert Information - Distance .30miles - Speed 30mph.

So as 'welshgasman' has a Garmin and if he loads the database using GarminPOI Loader he should have the proximity warning whatever his speed!

If the only warning you get with a unit is 'overspeed' then the risks are great because in the .3 miles you may well keep your speed below 30mph and just happen to speed up to 35mph in the last 20yds!

I had the visual and audible proximity warning today at this camera but as my unit was not zoomed in, I did not notice it was shown off road and on the wrong carriageway!

Any unit that does not give a proximity warning of a camera, is of limited use.
The constant overspeed warning is a pain, and I remove it, after all you have a visual and audible proximity warning and the icon on the unit is always shown.

There are always comments on the forums of warnings for cameras on the opposite carriageway - this camera is off road and nearer to the wrong carriageway.

Well being out of work, I do not have money to buy a flashy new one, and as my subscription ran out yesterday and I immediately renewed, I would like to be confident that I will be warned.

Let me take a pass by it again over 30 and see what I get.
