I have a new sd card on my tt 720. I connected to tt home and the new map update was put on the card, which was empty. I now have map 825 on internal memory and 830 on the card. I don't waqnt to keep switching maps so what I would like to do is format the card, copy over everything on internal memory, connect to Home and upgrade the map to 830. Will this work? and will it mean I don't have to keep switching maps. Thank you.

Once you have selected a map it will remain the active map, I don't think you should be cnaging maps all the time , you can remove the old map and leave the new one on the memory card as it will still find it - Mike

Thanks Mike. So I remove the folder Western Europe from the internal memory and then won't have to keep switching maps. All my camping poi's are on the internal memory, will they still show on the maps? Thank you.

You will need to copy them from your old map to your new one. If update your new map to the same location it will overwrite the map files but keep the pois, but, as you updated to the SD card, you will have to move or copy them yourself.

You will need to copy the POI files from one map folder to the other one as POI files will only show up when they are contained in the specific map folder - Mike

Thanks Mike and Calomax. Excuse my ignorance but but what is wrong with formating my card, copying over my files and folders from internal memory, deleting the map from internal memory, connect to home and update the map. I really don't know if this is feasible, but was just an idea.

If all you are trying to do is get the 8.30 map to work on your card with all the poi's you have on your 8.25 map in your internal unit then yes that should work. However what I would do would be take the SD card out of the unit then update your 8.25 on your internal unit that has all your saved poi's in it.
Then if you want to have the 8.30 map on the sd then you can copy it over from your internal to the sd card and it will over wright the map you have on the card that you just updated.
Keep in mind you will no longer have the 8.25 map.

IF you have a bunch of files in your Fav folder I would take the time to make a poi folder and save them all as POI's before updating the map on internal.

Make a backup before doing anything.

Thanks garcor. I have plenty of backups. Do one on every alteration Laughing So if I need 825, I have it.
