Are Tomtom servers playing up

Recently downloaded the latest update for my device tomtom 730 and now find that i cannot access tomtom services via gps, gets as far as 65%.
have done a forum search and found one or two threads on this problem but cannot find an answer, my phone is compatible (nokia6300) so should be no problem and it was working beforehand.
i am off to france soon with friends who are travelling in different vehicle and we usually use buddies to navigate to each other so would like a fix.
does anyone know if it is the latest download for the device or if the tomtom servers are playing up.
any help much appreciated.
