A few months ago I ran an update from the TT Home website.
After about 15 minutes on a journey it switched off, restarted but I had to reprogramme the routing. It did this several times so I restored the device from the back up I had prudently made beforehand. It then all worked perfectly.
This week I thought I would try the update again. Backed it up, updated it and? You guessed it, exactly the same. Switches off.
I have restored it from the back up and all ok again.
I apologise if this has already been covered in the forum but try as I might I can't find a match.
Any suggestions or can you direct me to the place where it has been discussed already?

I haven't seen any previous mention of this problem.

I have just retrieved my GO700 from son in law who had it but has not used it much and anyway I swapped him a 720 for it!

It has App 6.520 and map 675.1409.

I have not and will not update it because it ain't broke! It took me all round Europe in 2006 safe and sure.

I got it back because the hands free phone is reliable and workable, but it runs alongside a GO920 which has App 8.302 (or 8.350) and map 825. I am able to see the differences between the maps and the Applications and quite frankly, they don't matter beans!!

The x10 range suffered from rebooting caused by slight loss of contact to the mount, so ever since then, TT have been messing about with the reboot and on/off settings, controlled by the Application (instead of making mounts or connections which are reliable!).

I'd advise you to go back to your backup and be happy with the latest reliable TomTom device - many people will tell you they haven't been as good since the 700.
