Hello again guys, two questions for you.
On the box my 2150 Max came in it said unit has 'text-to-speech', but mine is not announcing street names just the turns, how do I activate this feature?
Secondly, how do I enter a UK road number like M5 or A42 or B3456, as a route point?
Steep learning curve this.
Many thanks,
Jerry

Right answer to second question......for example M6 Carlisle put in under City Carlisle then under road M6.

First question.... have you got announce street names activated in basic settings?

Hope that helps

Hi Oddjobman, thanks for your reply, there'll be a slight delay in my checking these out in practice as the wife's got the satnav today.

BUT, from memory, I didn't see an 'announce street names' option.

Road number-wise, it's when I try to influence the route by trying to get it to use certain roads that it won't accept road numbers. This is not in towns where all streets have names, but rather in open country.
As an example, if I ask for a route from Exeter to Penzance it might give me the A38. I might want to go mainly by the A30, so hoped that if I put in A30 as a route point it would change the route the satnav offered.

When you got the map up press options then settings.....then basic settings.....on first page second one down under voice is Announce Street Names.....make sure it says yes.

If you know a route you want to take you better off setting up a route with waypoints in it that you want to follow. I dont think there is a Sat Nav that is 100% correct to every route out there. I travel alot from Glasgow to Essex and if I travel the route set by the Sat Nav it takes me Down M74/A74/M6 off at Stoke to M1.Down M1 and off A14 Junction to M11 and down to M25 that way. Ok I dont know this might be best route as I prefer the more straight forward route of M74/A74/M6/M1/M25. I have set up this route now by setting way point as mentioned in my first post.

Hi, have now looked, had voice set to 'Susan' so 'Announce street names' did not show.
Had to have Voice set to Heather (TTS).

Yeah, I know, but still cannot enter road numbers to do it.
In your example, did you just input M74/A74/M6/M1/M25?

How I set up route was from starting point home address in Glasgow...next address, City Carlisle then Street M6.....next address, City Norton Canes then Street M6....this came up as M6 Toll which I wanted...next was address City Northampton then Street M1 from then on it routes how I want it too.

You have to name the city or town that the road goes through under city or postcode. Then under street just put in road number.

Thanks very much, Oddjobman.
Have now managed to get the route I want.
Works fine as long as the stretch of road I want runs near enough to a town to be included in its area.
All the best,
Jerry
