FM transmitter - Garmin 765 vs Tomtom 530

Hi guys

I got my Tomtom 530 on Weds, and it is good, except for one important thing, the audio quality picked up by the radio is not acceptable.

The radio works perfectly with regular BBC and other stations, but the signal from the Tomtom often sounds extremely sibilant, and S'es sound distorted and thick, and then there are often the kinds of hissing sounds you hear when you are traveling out of a good reception area and your radio signal is intermittent.

I also tried putting the Tomtom on the roof of the car right next to the aerial... but this also did not result in perfect reception.

The mp3 playing feature was the main reason I chose this particular GPS device. I am wondering if I should return it and get a Garmin 765 or something like that, but of course I do not know if the Garmin is any better, whether it is know to have a stronger FM transmitter.

Your help in this regard would be much appreciated. At the moment I am really not happy about the quality of this feature and cannot listen to music as it is at the moment.
