Just changed the reg setting, made no difference. Run for about 2 mins then started to lose GPS data and then get it back again after about 1 sec. It run for 5 mins and then did not get data back. One thing I did notice was that when it locked up the blue light on the receiver was still on full even when I shut down TomTom.

I have similar bluetooth drop outs with h2210 and Holux GR-230 receiver since November 2003. Originally I used TTN2 and tracked the problem down to use of the SD card. When I switched the maps to Compact Flash I had hardly any lockups at all (very rare). Some SD cards seems to be worse than others, this may be why not everyone is exeriencing the problem. I have had more sucess with the viking 256MB CF (Toshiba) card.

I now have TTN3 upgrade and find the same problem. Have tried switching between the CF and SD today and the problem only happens when using the SD The lockup is worse using TTN3, often it needs a reset to sort it out. I use:

Integral 128MB CF
Unbranded SD (supplied by Holux with Package)
Viking 256MB SD (Toshiba)

h2210 ROM 1.00.10 ENG 05/22/03
BtReg Tweak
Checkpoint

Hope this helps some other long suffering h2210 user.

Richard

re the sd card this was my experience as well.

There is a sdio update for the 2210 on the hp site - maybe worth a try - but ultimately it looks like ttn3 works the flash cards even harder than ttn2, strange that the obvious symtom is the bt connection - perhaps because it is obvious when it stop working where other processes are less visible?

I for one am thinking of ditching tomtom but have no idea what else to try - I want the camera database warner plus decent maps and addresses - any suggestions.

Ian

I've found that disabling the sound within TT fixes my dropout problem.
I noticed that i always seemed to get the dropputs at junctions and roundabouts.... i.e. where the voice tells me where to go... I'm not bothered about missing the voice so this 'fix' works for me.... and i'd tried just about everything else and was getting sick of TT packing up on me!

TomTom asked me to re-install 3.02 GPS driver then delete BT shortcut & rebond. This as expected had no effect.

They have now suggested I uncheck the Show POI option in Navigator as a possible temporary fix.

I'm not expecting success but thought I'd share the info with other sufferer's!

TURBO - see my ealier post with regards to POI, your experience sounds exactly the same as mine, I could sit here in the house with the GPS in the garden and get 6 hours of uninterrupted sat updates, the moment you go on the road, it goes t*ts up.... Please try it, let me know in my thread what you find!

Ian.

I have been using GPS driver ver 2.07, because I know that worked with TomTom ver 2. I still get the lock up, but after I un-checked the POI's it has worked fine on a 2 hour drive home. I will try it with GPS ver 3.02 later.

Well I put driver version 3.02 back on, and with the Show POI's un checked, have had no drop outs all day. I then checked the show POI's box, and within 2 mins got drop outs.

It would seem that this may have fixed the problem!!

Only time will tell

Still no contact from TomTom support now for 6 days, despite updating them each day!!!

The underlying issue / problem here is that the bluetooth stack is dropped when the pda processsor is working too hard. Disabling POIs will help as does the use of Compact Flash cards, they work the pda processor less due to the fact that CF cards have their own disk controller buit in, the SD cards do not. This is why you only get the drop outs when the maps are moving and the processor is stretched. The bluetooth connection will keep connected for as long as you wish when stationary.

I too can report no dropouts on several short (5-10 min) journeys since removing POI. The problem is that POI was the reason for choosing TTN3!
