pocketgpsworld.comGarmin have announced the nuvi 1490T first revealed at CeBit last month.

The 1490T's 5-inch screen sits in between the standard nuvi models and the premium nuvi 5000 and is packaged in an ultra-thin housing that makes it perfect for carrying in your pocket and using for pedestrian navigation.

Using the optional cityXplorer content you can navigate selected cities including guidance for using public transport. You'll be told which direction to go in and which bus, tube, tram or train you need to take.

Digital elevation mapping with contours also features. The 1490T also has the standard features such as subscription-free TMC traffic data, 2D/3D mapping, speed limits, Bluetooth hands-free calling and ecoRoutes.

The 1490T will be come in North America and Europe versions and available in July. Pricing to be confirmed.

I am looking forward to seeing this item.
When you are getting a bit older the larger screen will be a benefit. I presume it will show the same data as 4.3" screen but just a bit bigger.

Hope it is not too expensive Question

Laughing Out Loud, I know the feeling, I only know where I'm going because of my Nuvi, I cant see the street signs even with my glasses on. so I count on my Nuvi to guide me. is that like driving blind?

Has anyone tried it yet? I have an 880 with the msndirect subscription. I dont want to give up the ability to send directions from BING.
