Maybe this is me being slightly anal / obsessively compulsive, but has anyone else noticed if the LCD panel in their unit is perfectly centred?
Although mine is perfectly horizontal and vertical in relation to the exterior case, I have noticed that when the unit is turned on that the internal panel border is very very slightly shifted to one side, by maybe 1 or 2 pixel widths….I didn’t particularly notice it on my other unit …maybe I didn’t look closely enough.

Anyone else notice anything like this on theirs and I take it TT would consider it within the bounds of acceptability where QC is concerned.

I would expect that as long as the whole "active" bit of the screen is visible, that would be OK.

It's the sort of thing that would bug you when you see it so I'm not even going to look on mine. Laughing

I'm now getting really irritated by the horizontal banding across the screen (where the colour changes with "depth"), and THAT never bothered me until someone else mentioned it! Laughing

does anyone know if tomtoms have a screen calibration utility, much like computer monitors that allow the display to be shifted left / right or up / down. it seems unlilkley that my screen was inserted incorrectly as i am sure they all go in the same....therefore perhaps if there is a config utility etc i can adjust it 1 or 2 pixels to the right....

maybe i am being dense....but why would u need to calibrate ur touchscreen?

if you were to insert a cal.txt file and then remove it, does the device default to its orginal settings?

and whats this whole navcore soft keyboard thing? and how do i activate it?

given that the max and min x&y figures differ from the actual resolution of the device, perhaps it is correct then say that adjusting the figures may not move the displayed image within the case border.

if anyone has anymore info on how to adjust the resolution / display coordinates please let me know.

Unfortunately, TomTom devices do not currently have this function and it can only be done at the repair centre.

If it is not useable I can book a repair for you.

Anyone know where the TT repair centres are and how a "repair" would be effected? would they open it up and move the screen about?

There's one in Scotland, or it can go back to Holland.
Once you get a repair authorisation, they send a box or TNT label to return it.

well i dont really fancy sending a brand new unit away for a repair...i think i will just take it back to the retailer and get it excahanged for a new one.....hopefully the whole batch won't be like that!!!

TT asked me to take a picture of the fault and send it in. When i brought it into work and had a closer look, you can actually see a small black border inside the case (either attached directly to or part of the lcd panel itself) and this is the the top and right of the display, leading me to believe that the panel is inserted incorrectly (or B Grade???) and thats why its off centre to the left and bottom.

Has anyone ever taken their TT apart and if so is it any easy thing to move the panel around? i would have thought they were manuafactured to the exact tolerances of where they sit in the case.....
