Hi. Not good news I'm afraid (unless my memory serves me wrong - I sold mine a while ago).

I'm sure it was necessary to go through the set-up onto the PC to make the sd card recoverable (using the MyViaMichelin site). The user guide for mine "definitely" said that otherwise recovery would not be possible. And you can't use a different VM card from another unit already in use, or load a blank one with maps, as they are 'locked' to the unit owned during registration.

The most likely possibility might be if you contacted VM to see if they could sell you a brand-new sd card (as I think the locking is actually made between the sd card and the cd during registration. I would give them a ring for advice, though you must obviously be aware that their ability to help these days is very limited.

After you've rung them, if they can't help, I guess you might as well try going through the registration process on the pc, if only to make sure there is no escape route without the sd card. I take it you didn't make a copy of the VM card either when you had it.

Bearing in mind the dead-endedness of the VM models (great though they were) you might want to weigh up any quote from VM for any resolution against the cost of buying an up-to-date satnav.
