Recommend a Bluetooth receiver?

Hi

I bought Tomtom Navigator 3 (wired) and am very happy with it but I'd like to now use a Bluetooth receiver as it will be neater to install in my car.

What GPS BT receiver is recommended by the forum? It must...

1. Be reliable - good signal pickup etc
2. Work with an iPaq 4150 and Tom Tom 3
3. Be easily powered by the cars battery instead of rechargables.
4. Just be all-round great!

I can recommend the Navman 4400, good ttff, reliable, works with any BT PocketPC, works with TTN3, easily powered by car battery, uses std AAA when away from the car, can use rechargeables if preferred,
I believe it is all round great but then I am a little biased owning one.

Other recommendations I have seen in the forums include the Fortuna clip-on.

If you do decide to go with a navman 4400 and wanted the tomtom3 software instead of the one supplied by navman, then it would be better to go for the 4100 as this is exactly the same hardware as the 4400/4410 but with no software, so a little cheaper.

I went for the 4410, and then had to shell out more because I wanted the tomtom3 software, but am quite happy with it in the few days I've had it.

Although a little more expensive then other BT GPS receivers on the market, it really has a reputation for reliability.

The fortuna clip on is quite good and is a good price(£130ish)

I narrowed my choice down to the Fortuna Clip-On and the Navman 4100. I think that the ability to remove the battery power is essential to allow you to quickly reset the receiver without having to wait hours or even days for the receiver to reset. Thumbs Up

I’m on my second Clip-On as the first one suffered from power problems in the first week of use Crying or Very sad

. I’ve had my current one for a month and so far it’s doing very well :D. This is a known problem of the Clip-On.

I’ve no experience of the Navman 4100, but it sounds a good receiver. The use of AAA is a great idea as you’ve got the use of either rechargeable or standard batteries, which are available from many shops. I can’t recall any known problems with the Navman 4100 either, but Icsys could confirm.
