Geocaching Abroad - Anyone tried it with Satmap?

I'm off to spain in August and there are some geocaches close to where I am staying so I'd like to try and find a few whilst I'm out there. As there are no spanish maps available yet I wondered if anyone had tried to use Satmap for Geocaching without maps. I'm not sure but I understand that if you are in a country without a map you get a blue screen. So my thought was that I could plot routes on google earth and import the gpx file. I could then use this to make by way to the cache. I've considered upgrading to the World Map but looking at the low detail you get with it I've ruled it out Has anyone got any experience of this, or any other tips/thoughts?

Just back from Sweden and used the Satmap for geocaching. Works fine with the blue screen but I have a Garmin Zumo to get me to the right area first. I can load complete GPX files on the Zumo as well as the Satmap.
It would be nice to have the world base map but I doubt that it would help at the scale you need for geocaching.
I have found with 1:25000 that it get cluttered when you zoom in anyway and I usually remove the card for the last few yards. Sometimes a clear screen actually helps.
