Hi, new here first post.........I was holidaying in the US and everything was fine with my GO920. Came home to the UK and put the Tomtom in the in the computer cradle to update it. I inadvertly removed it before sync had finished.
Now I switch it on and it displays 'no maps found' On tomtom home it shows that the memory is nearly all used so the US, Europe and GB maps are in the device but I cannot retrieve them.
Please can anyone help or advise.
Thanks |

See if anything here helps. (You may have to set country to US to see info, not sure. _________________ David |

Thank you David. The maps are not on the device, but I have taken a backup on my desktop as per this forum's advice before I had the problem. I have removed everything from the device and tried to copy over from the backup. It now says 'not enough memory' doh! |

The easiest option to get out of the insufficiant memory problem is to purchase a large capacitiy SD card, you can use anything up to 32GB but if you want space for a couple of maps get at least a 4GB card.
SDHC cards are supported by your hardware, even 8GB cards don't cost a great deal at all - Mike |

Hi SL300-24
The advice from mikealder is sound. However, in the meantime you should be able to copy everything from your Backup back to your device. If you use explorer to delete everything on your Tomtom you will then find that your backed up copy must fit back onto your device. After all, it fitted on there before you made your back up. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Getting everything to fit on the 9xx devices can be a bit of a challenge following updates as when it was suplied it will have been regional specific.
The speech recognition files for the USA map were deliberatly left off a device purchased in Europe as these consume a large amount of storage space, a new USA map will contain these "extra" files and therefore won't fit the available internal memory.
If the 920 were purchased in the USA then it would have USA voice recognition files installed but not the European ones, again a map update will take the device above the storage capacity available from the internal flash memory.
Simple option is to purchase a decent size memory card and put the maps on the card, if you don't want to do this I can let you know the files to delete from the various folders to get it to instal but you will be running with a sub-optimal device if you intend using it in both the European and North American regions - Mike |
