I have a garmin etrex legend hcx, when i connect to laptop and turn on all seems ok, when it try to send data (routes etc) to the unit from mapsource it displays the unit id but then comes up with an error message saying unit is not turned on etc, i have an sd card in the garmin and seem to remember problems before (my laptop hard drive died so i am now reinstalling) can anyone help? |

Have you lost the unlock code for the mapping during the problems with the computer? You may have to re-unlock the mapping. Mapsource (latest version) should be able to tell you what mapping is unlocked for which device. _________________ Phil |

BTW, if you do have to re-unlock any of the mapping (eg for any which you only have unlock codes stored in original documents) there is a Q&A on the Garmin site for installing a map on a different computer/re-installing on a crashed computer, which may be of help. _________________ David

i havent lost the unlock code, i had the same problem when i originally got the unit, went on a another forum (cant remember which) , someone came up withe solution (which as it was a long time ago, again i cant remember what it was), must be the old age, thanks for your suggestion |
