When I was installing the bike mount I did toy with the idea of siting it on the top tube ( and may yet do so ).It is a bit exposed on the bars but I don't find the screen very easy to see in bright sunlight so I surmised the closer I was to it the better I would be able to see it..

I have fitted a mount to the "top tube " on the Brompton and it seems okay. One of the good points of the mount is that it fits any diameter of tube in any orientation.

Have to say I've been very pleased with my bike mount too.

The mount is very solid but I've found over the last couple of winters that the Satmap is best kept in a case when off road. Debris and condensation soon build up under the cover and, although it does no lasting damage, it's a valuable bit of kit and I like to keep mine looking smart.

The latest revelation however is in using the bike mount on my motorbike. As I said, the mount is rock solid and the Satmap sits nicely on the bars without any sign of vibration (or taking off!) even at motorway speeds.

Cheers
