A little OT for Pocket GPS forums, but it's a smll laptop so it should count... Wink

I've just spent a week trying to work out how to connect my Sony Vaio latop with internal Bluetooth to my Navman 4100. In essence, the Sony Bluespace software knew the 4100 was there, but would not establish a connection.

Turns out, after much searching, that Sony software does not (reliably, at least) support connections with non-Sony products. So much for common standards. Anyway, the upshot was that I followed the instructions at the bottom of this post on the Geekzone forums http://tinyurl.com/ytc7s to remove the Sony software, install an IBM alternative and finally get a serial connection with the 4100.

Just put this information here as an FYI - hope it saves other people some of the enormous frustratons I've had...

Good luck!

I have heard this before that Sony seem to create their own standard. I guess it kind of shows in their other products like creation of the memory stick etc.

It's a real shame. Also you may find that the Sony Bluetooth drivers don't support Serial Port Profile, you can find that some USB Bluetooth dongles don't support it either which is a real PITA! Confused
