I used TomTom Home to update my application software, and now it won't boot when I strat it up, just hangs on the splash screen. I've tried (per numerous suggestions including the TomTom support site)
--formatting the card and reinstalling from backup (no go),
--deleting all the loose files on the card (keeping all folders) and updating again (still no go).
It worked absolutely perfectly before updating. I think I may just need to find the older application version as this one has just frozen my TomTom up.
Any idea what the problem is? Is there a simple fix or should I just buy a used unit on eBay and use that SD card?
Thanks!

Oldboy's page to older application versions can be found here.
You could try the app for the Go x10 series. _________________ David |

If you download the 7,161.8491 Navcore you can either use Home to install it, or a better and more reliable method is to open the download with WinRar, you will find three files:
navcore_7.toc
program.png
navcore_7,161.8491.910.cab
To install this to your device I use WinRar which you can download from Here Switch the TomTom on and connect it to your PC, if TomTom Home starts up exit the application as Home isn't needed for this.
Double click the file :
navcore_7,161.8491.910.cab
WinRar will fire up, use the mouse to select all files and folders then click "Extract To"
Please be aware these screen captures were from a different installation, but they should give the idea.
Locate the drive letter associated with your TomTom and click it, make sure the Overwrite mode is selected to "Ask before overwrite", then press "OK"
When the dialogue box pops up saying "Confirm File Replace" click the "Yes To All" button.
When its finished the update use the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon from the Task Tray and remove the lead from the device.
Let the device boot up and tap the sat strength meter (lower left) followed by the version box, the resultant screen will confirm the version installed is Navcore 7,161
BTW I removed the e-mail address from your original post, its not a good idea to post details like this on the forum as they can attract spam - Mike |

Sorry to nag, but why didn't you make a full backup before you tried the update?
That's the best "simple fix" of all! |
