Advent GPS 400
Is there a Speed Camera download for this product, and if so, how do I access it?
Many thanks

You've got the piece of kit, maybe no-one else here does....
Is there anything in the instructions about POI's? Does it have its own built-in ones and say that you can add others? If so, does it say what format it needs? If it's all Greek to you, post the relevant bit of the manual here and someone may be able to help. |

No info in manual. I got this websiite fro their support team, so I'm still seeking whether there are any UK downloads for this product.
Where else would you recommend?
Thanks

The problem is that this is not a well known or popular bit of kit. You really need to find out what software it runs, whether it accepts POIs, if so what format they have to be in, and how you load them. The best people to answer those questions will be the Advent tech support people.
If the answer is their own type of software with their own (or no) format for POIs you will have problems. _________________ Peter

I have contacted the support team and await an answer. I will post if and when i get one.
the advent gps 400 runs the microsoft activesync software, windows ce.
when you use the explore function on the pc, not the gps, there are poi's stored in the navigation folder. is this where i could put speed camera poi's if i had any?
thanks, matt. |

Matt,
They and you seem to be getting a bit confused. Windows ce is the operating ssytem for the PDA. However for sat nav you need sat nav software such as Tom Tom or Navigon or Copilot, to name some of the more popular ones. With most of these you can then add a database (not strictly "software") of the camera positions but can only do so if the sat nav software you are using accepts "Points of Interest" (POIs) databases in a format supported by this site.
So first of all you need to find out what sat nav software you are actually running. Once you do then simebody will be able to tell you if the camera database works with it and how to load it.
Hope that helps _________________ Peter

I knew I'd seen it somewhere - just found it on the French GPSPassion site!
Apparently you need to use POIWarner with Navigon. All you then need to do is to use the .asc files from the PGPSW camera database, and you're away! Just make sure that it is Navigon, and I'm sure if you ask on the relevant forum here, someone there will tell you where to put the files.
It's probably in the manual anyway.

A good guide has been created by user pocketgps and is available on his website here. Although it refers to Medion Mobile Navigator the same process applies to Navigon of which Medion's package is a re-badge. _________________ Darren Griffin

Thank you so much for clearing that up.
The software that the advent gps 400 runs on, is the (navteq on board) navigon navigator 5 (version 5.1) dated aug 10th 2005.
thanks.
