Configuring compass for TT 910?

I am using Navcore 8.204 with North America map 815.2019 on my TT 910. I can get the compass to show up, but it's kind of screwy, getting W mixed up with E. I remember with the old software I could configure it to point to the destination? Can I do it with this version? Thanks!

The oft criticised new compass in v8 is not configurable and always points N.

The compass display and functions were changed a while back (for the worse) it now acts as a compass rather than a direction pointer, the E/W is actually correct though but people often get confused by it.

This confusion over East-West seems to catch a lot of people...
Think of it this way:
The new compass always points North - relative to the top of the screen.
Therefore if you are travelling West... the compass points to "three o'clock" or what you might think of as "East".

Why can't they bring back the options of the old one though, even if it was just this size?

Not surprising when even TomTom can't get their heads around it . . . if you chose 2d map, north always on top, the cursor points correctly to the direction you're travelling. Totally opposite to what the compass is doing. What's that all about?

On any map, 3 0'clock is east. But not for the folk at TomTom.

I can't work out why this still causes so much confusion...

The cursor is a representation of the car itself, so the point is where the bonnet is pointing.

The compass points north simple as that, there is no east-west mix up.

Maybe people should try blutac-ing a real compass on the dash and you'd see it agrees.

Are you in the southern or some other hemisphere? No it doesn't, it points east (ie, 3 o'clock) when I'm travelling west (9 o'clock). Yes, if I'm travelling south, it gets it right, it points to 6 o'clock. And sure to God it DOES point north when I'm actually heading north.

I am, I admit, schooled in using maps where top is north, south is bottom, west is left, east is right. I've not got an an ocean-going vehicle relying on the stars for navigation - just an out-of-touch-with-reality TomTom.

Who - bar sailors and astronomers - thinks in that convoluted way? Don't we want something that simply tells us we could be travelling in the
wrong direction without having to solve the equivalent of a soduku puzzle?

This is why so many folk obviously are confused and why TomTom should have as the default what is obvious to most road users.

How do you suggest it be implemented? A compass points North, TomTom's compass points North, which way do you want it to point?
