Hi
I have downloaded Tom Tom version 825 map and have lost my favourites
list! I have read about converting to POIs and have downloaded POIedit I then opened up mapsettings cfg and batch edit in tools which highlighted the list! Where do I go from there please

If I remember correctly, when you open MapSettings.cfg in POIEdit, you will see (all jumbled up) your Favourites AND your recent destinations, your Home Location and maybe some other bits and pieces.
All you do is select each one you don't want as a Favourite and delete it (using the "X" at the top or with the right-click menu).

Then you can save the remaining ones with "Save as..." calling it "My_Favourites.ov2" or whatever other name you prefer.

No need to get involved in "batch edit" Smile .

Hi
Thanks for the replies, I have followed your links Mike and have successfully got my favourites as POIs into my Tom Tom One.
Is it the same principle to do the speed cameras so that I won't have to go through all the rigmarole of adding the warnings after a map change or is it preferable to do it manually each time!

Not quite sure what you're suggesting here...
The Cameras are already POI files so you don't need to convert them, just copy them into the new map folder if you need to.

As for the settings for them... POIEdit won't help you there, it's not what it was designed for.

If copying the MapSettings.cfg file won't work for a particular software/map combination, then the only safe alternative is to re-do the settings manually.
Personally, I don't even bother trying to copy old MapSettings files now. Even if it seems to work and the POI warning settings still work, I've found other things can get messed up (like voice recognition).

Re-doing all the warnings only takes five minutes (although I'll admit I've done it SO often, I'm pretty fast now!).

Thanks Andy
I will continue to apply the speed camera warnings by hand, as you say it doesn't take that long and it's not like I'm having to do it every week or so!
thanks again

I used to! That's why I'm so quick at it now! But TomTom seem to have fixed that bug. Smile

Thanks Andy

Unfortunately it wouldn't convert or open my mapcfg file so I will update my 720t manually.

All I need now is for TomTom to get the finger out and allow me to operate my device using home. I won't hold my breath though.
