Was just updating SpeedCamera (PGPSW of course) and was offered it on plug in. Am doing run to London this evening from N. Yorks so will report back. The same journey last week nearly ended with it in the hedge around Watford Gap services so I'm ready for this one! _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

Looking at the included bootloaderversion.txt
I see that it still is suppose to have 5.5015
I hope those of us that tried the x40 will not have problems with running a different bootloader.
Those that tried 8.320 WORK should have the same 5.5015
If you did the x40 8.203 or 8.204 then you will have 5.5106
And if you did the x40 8.310 you will have 5.5112

Well, I installed it to a 720 and nipped down to the shops....
Not a very good test, no roundabouts and only a few backstreet rat-run turns for it to contend with.
I loaded up a computer voice, had to re-pair my Bluetooth to the car stereo, and put the juke box into play.
I don't have a Bluetooth phone, but just the combination of Jukebox music and Bluetooth audio output is enough to trigger problems.
Well, on that short run, I reckon the whole screen display was smoother and faster (but I won't be convinced until I've been round a few roundabouts).
The voice didn't STUTTER once, but at one point it did say "after three hundred yards, turn, turn, turn, left", and at one other point I'm sure it said "After two, two hundred yards, turn right", but I was enjoying the music.
The jukebox audio didn't stutter when instructions happened, except for when it went turn, turn, turn, left, when it paused momentarily.
EDIT: I should add - this was on a 720 previously running v8.301 and with the STANDARD V6 TTS voices, not the unofficial updated v7 ones.

Loaded up v8.302 along with the NA v825 map, today before work.
First impression is it seems smoother.
I had a full set of deliveries, and so used Itineries and purposely went off route causing recalculations and everything seemed fast and more importantly good old Kate didn't stutter once.
This is with ref to my 720 with Kate v710 voice as before.
I know its early doors, but it did seem to work pretty good.
Out of interest has anyone gone back to v6.9 Kate with this app? _________________ Go 720 v8.351 GPS v1.20 Boot 5.5120

Will I get this upgrade soon, and what changes are there to the software, will there be IQ routes for example?
Cheers
Sorry, you might get updated software, but it would just be bugfixes - you sure as hell won't be getting new features like IQ routes. For a start, your model doesn't even have enough on-board memory to store the IQ-Routes Europe map. Probably doesn't have the processing power either.
It certainly seems better. Previously I could *reliably* get it to stutter running a specific Demo route while the unit was charging from the USB cradle and so far with 8.302 I haven't managed to repeat this once.
The backlight brightness still fluctuates though and although it does not stutter it does pause the Demo display updating for a second or so just before the announcement that it used to have problems with. I suspect it's pausing slightly as it does the TTS processing.
It seems OK with both Kate v6 and v7 voices, although the display pause maybe marginally longer with the v6 voice (although that could be my imagination).
If it behaves the same during real driving, then it will certainly be an improvement, I'd prefer a slight pause in the display than stuttering speech.

Anyone tried to 'Operate my Go' using Home yet?
Mine doesn't work. Says the functionality isn't available.
That's normal behaviour for a few days/weeks. They never seem to be able to release the DLL needed for the new firmware at the same time as the firmware itself. No, it doesn't make sense. _________________ Gerry
