I've just bought a TomTom 1 - How do I open the case to replace batteries or cards ? - There's no screws visible.
Nothing mentioned in the manual (unsurprisingly) |

The battery is rechargable. You don't 'replace' unless it's faulty - even then you should get it replaced under warranty.
The newest One units (with the big circular 'easyport' mount) only has internal memory. It doesn't have an SD card slot. _________________ Gerry

Dammit - I got it for Christmas and it's got just the UK map on it - I wanted Western Europe which is too large to fit. I'd have liked to have upgraded the card to a larger one. I know it's rechargeable ! - I've been using it since Christmas, but it's not too versatile if it can't be upgraded.
Thanks for the info. |

The newer units use internally mounted flash memory which cannot be upgraded at all, if you really need Western Europe all you can do is sell the device and buy the other devices with the more comprehensive map.
Or you could purchase a single country map and just install thet when you need it, for example if you were going to France you could remove the UK Map and put France on it - Mike |

After doing a full explorer backup so that you don't lose your original map of course _________________ Mike

There is plenty of room on the internal memory even on the UK version.
The UK mapping version has 1GB. With the UK map installed as standard and some other poi's I still have 817MB free. |

You can actually use the Western Europe maps on it. TT do a version for the 1GB memory which includes the UK. I presume you remove the current UK map and then load the WE map (875MB). |
