My 520T has updated without problem for some time. Last week the GPSFix update stopped working and gave an error message. The message starts as below. All the other updates Map Share, Cameras etc work without problem. Anyone got any ideas off what I might do. tom Tom support haven't been unduly helpful.

ERROR: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [nsIFile.remove]"

Try deleting all of the ephemeris downloads in your HOME downloads folder and also deleting the contents of the ephem folder on the device.

A clear flash and pin reset might not go amiss as well.

Have you got a FULL backup of your unit. You could try saving your current set-up with a FULL backup then install the last good one and see what happens.

Don't use HOME as this will over-write the last one unless you change its name.

Always best to use Explorer and use a new name each time you backup.

How often do you use the device? - if you use it every few days there is no point in downloading the data via Home, the device gets all the information it needs while its in use. I haven't bothered with the qGPS for quite some time now as I find it unnecessary and I still get very respectable times for achieving a GPS position fix.
Try using the device without it and I bet you won't notice the difference, if this is the case why try fixing something that doesn't work when its not required? - Mike

Just to back up what Mike says - I haven't downloaded GPSFix since February last year. By the time I get myself ready to pull out of my drive, I've always got a fix (on all three of my devices!).

Hi DennisN
No, I don’t bother with the GPS Fix, no need. In fact I don’t bother with ‘Home’ either except If there is a map I may wish to download.

However, If I did try to download the GPS Fix and came up against the same snag as Jeremy69 I too would be puzzled. Not only puzzled, I would want to find the cause too.

Sounds a bit like the condemned man helping Albert Pierrepoint fix a problem with the trapdoor. Twisted Evil

That'll be after you wash the car, pour a cup of tea and have a slice of toast, eh? Laughing
HOME has obviously taken notice as it no longer offers me a GPSfix update.

I haven't got a car. (But I sometimes carry three devices on a string round my neck and run up the road howling Brrrrm, Brrrrm, Beep, Beep!!)

Thank you all. Don't bother sounds a good solution especially as there are no il effects thus far but I am curious as to why it has started to happen.

I haven't got any work, nobody's called me. Unless you're thinking about the pot of paint and the filler stuff sitting on the landing. Evil or Very Mad I'm not good (therefore not exactly early starter) at doing It!
