I found positioning the antenna was critical, I set mine to get as much vertical as possible, it found a station and locked on in less than a minute.

Generally you need a splitter cable which is fitted inline between the car aerial and the stereo, the RDS-TMC can then connect to the other output the splitter provides.
If the cars aerial is powered by sending 12V DC up the coax cable then make sure you fit a small capacitor in series between the car aerial and the RDS device. The capacitor will block the DC voltage but allows the AC signal (RF) to pass through.
Should you connect the RDS device directly to a powered aerial without the capacitor there is a good chance you will fry the receiver ad possibly damage your TomTom.

What this modification does offer is a neat and tidy installation with less wiring strewn across the dash of the car, it also significantly increases the chance of a signal while you travel in areas with less than ideal coverage - Mike

Welcome to the forum, the item you linked to on e-bay is the latest RDS receiver and offers the best reception, although even this one will struggle in certain parts of the UK - Mike

Darren, perhaps This might answer your question, the One range has become rather difficult to work out due to all the versions introduced over the past few years - Mike
