I have just installed a replacement application on my One IQ and at the end of the install, I was told that there was an error writing file cp1253.bin but would be corrected next time I updated my device. I no longer get this warning in HOME, so I assumed it had been corrected, but when I tried to backup my device via Explorer, it stalls with a warning that the file is corrupted.
How can I correct this? Would it be sensible to re-install the application?
I don't have any problems in using the device but as I don't know what this files is/does, I don't know where to look for a problem.

Can you delete the file off of the device?
If you can, delete it.
Then use WinRAR to extract the cab file that is your Navcore downloaded on your PC. It is probably in My Documents\TomTom\Home\Download\Complete\Program. In there you will find one or more folders, one of them has your latest Navcore it - just check the folder creation dates to see which is the most recent.
If it extracts without errors then just copy the single (now missing) file to your device.
If WinRAR throws an error then your download is corrupt.
Download the Navcore again and just extract the single file. It might be easier to download it manually than trying to force HOME to download a Navcore that it doesn't think you need as it is already on your device - if you post which Navcore it is I will dig out a direct download link for you.
To get rid of your corrupt downloaded Navcore just delete the entire folder that it is in on your PC. |

Thanks Andy. I have printed off your advice and will have to delay dealing with it until possibly Saturday as I have a two day trip to make 'up north'.
It all makes sense and I will post back with the result, when I can. Thanks for the time and effort

Thanks for the offer but, I think I may have found another way of doing it prompted by your first suggestion. I have an Explorer Backup of the last recent Navcore and have found the cp1253 file in that - it was missing from my corrupt installation (The File folder is called CP), so I merely copied and pasted it into the CP folder on my device. I am now doing a backup (50 minutes to go!) and if that goes successfully, then problem solved. if not I will just remove that file. Seems the ONLY difficulty I have is not being able to create a backup because of that corrupt file. Keep your fingers XXXd.

glad it worked.
IIRC the cp files are something to do with Chinese (or it may be some other language TT have just started including) with Nav9. I think they first started appearing in the 'Asia' Navcores.
