Speed Cameras, GPS, SatNavsViewRanger, the outdoor GPS navigation application for mobile phones is now available for the Nokia 5800 touch screen mobile phone.

ViewRanger now supports the touch screen interface of these models and gives you access to detailed topographic mapping across Europe with additional rich content including POIs and leisure routes.

Nokia's 5800 handset features a high-resolution 3.2" widescreen display, a 3.2 megapixel camera and fingertip control with automatic screen rotation and tactile feedback. The screen will make an ideal companion to ViewRanger's detailed topographic mapping and the camera can be used for geo-tagging images from your route.

Maps can be dragged and routes and POIs selected using your fingertips and where ViewRanger's 3D Panorama map data is available you can identify features on the landscape by pointing at them.

ViewRanger also has a number of enhancements including OTA (over the air) access to a library of pre-prepared leisure routes and BuddyBeacon tracking.

More information is available at www.ViewRanger.com.

I have tried the trial and am hooked. Viewranger is on my birthday list, both UK OS mapping and some European (probably French Alps or Pyrenees) mapping for my summer hols. It doesn't replace the paper map which allows a much wider view but is brilliant to use when out walking.
