Smile I am constantly forgeting to take my tomtom out of the car!!
I think that it might be posible to have a sound or spoken reminder when you turn off the ignition (ie: lose power to the tomtom) I am sure that some clever person can make this work! or has it already been done. I know that there is a battery save option in the change preferances section which switches off the tomtom when external power is lost, maybe this can be modified to play a sound! I have a tomtom one v2 with version 7.903 OS:2344
I would be interested if anybody has any idea how to make this work.

I like the idea, but I have no idea how you could do this unless TomTom decide to implement the suggestion - I will alert them to this thread and the idea as its well worth considering IMHO - Mike

On my720 under safety preferences there is a tick box to remind you to remove the unit, but it is a very quick shut down screen with a drawing of a person putting the unit in a briefcase, which comes on when you switch the power off.

A bit poor really, it could do with a sound file adding that shouts out "Where do you think you're going" (or Similar!)

This depends on the layout of your car but you could run the power lead through the middle of your keyring. That way you would have to disconnect the power cable before taking the keys out of the car.

On my old banger, if I fail to turn off my lights when opening the car door, I get a loud continuous warning signal. That's the sort of warning that would be useful, if you forget to remove you GPS when exiting the car. That would need some hard wireing though Crying or Very sad Or perhaps the FM transmitter could be used in some way with a tiny receiver attached to the door pillar. Just thinking aloud.

BTW what does IQ stand for in relation to the TT models incorporating this routing?

I assumed it just means "Intelligence quotient", like in "IQ tests", implying it's "clever". Rolling Eyes

That's right. I did a bit of research on Wiki for another forum - seems it just means intelligent (routing) based upon user experience........

Bit of a long shot this.

There is a setting to automatically switch off when external power is disconnected at least on Go x20 models. If the One v2 has this, then you could possibly use Splash v3.1 to to play a sound or recorded message during automatic switch off to remind you not to forget to take your TomTom with you. Note, this might not work with the latest TomTom applications (especially v8+).

See here for more details Splash v3.1

Anyone gonna try it out on a machine running v8?
Please report back your findings if you do. Smile

Very simple, just add another line reminding you to take your sat nav out of the car. We did it an one of our voices a couple of years ago.

You can just make your own arrive prompt, that will do the trick.

Don't give tomtom any excuses to play around with the software...we are still waiting for them to repair their latest mess up.
