I modified the 6.0.21 version a bit:
- nicer background for speed indication (including dropshadow)
- some enhanced speed and camara backgrounds
- colored battery indicator (green=full, red=empty and some colors in between)

Well thanks a lot, that's made a mess of all my carefully created speed indication bitmaps, never mind the fact that the drop shadows don't work properly in landscape mode and there isn't any VGA support.

If you must modify the skin at least do it properly and then give it a different name so at least everyone will know that it has been modified and then post it in a different thread..

So there's only 18.01 + 18.09 = 36.1 MB free.

I think there are some settings for sys.txt which will restrict the amount of memory used but you'd need to do a search for them.

By the way, did you manage get the Ultra Skin to work ?

sorry missed off :-

have put your zip file in (unzipped) in to folder :-
storage card/igo8/content/skins

but crashes on startup

found sys.txt on storage card and reads :-

[folders]
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"

[interface]
maxzoom2d=6000000
show_exit=1

[map]
2dheadup=1

[interface]
skin="ui_igo8"

note running the gujon skin as mentioned.

This thread is only to provide support for the Ultra Skin. I've provided details for updating your version of iGO to support it but for some reason you've decided not to take it. So that's as far as I go with this.

????

Thats why i have posted saying i couldnt get it to work. But i thought i should see if i could get another earlier version of yours working (v5 etc) and COULDNT ???????????

I then tried another skin as I mentioned and found that worked, that way you know that the fault lies with the skin software you are trying to use rather than the device etc, comon sense. Im not struck on the other skin - HENCE THATS WHY IM TRYING TO GET YOURS TO WORK!!! None of your skin will work for some reason, hence trying to sort it here and even get an older version working!

Also have reformatted the card each time (lost count)between installing yours and trying other versions so as to mske sure of NO conflicts. How many do that i wonder!!

My point as to your short sharp reply is I would still like to use your skin version - I havent asked in this thread for help on any other skin thank you very much!!

Version 5.0 of the Ultra Skin is not designed to work with the 8.3.2.64029 version of iGO8 so there's no point in trying that.

I've given the reason for the errors you are getting with iGO 8.3.2.64029 and the Ultra Skin 6.0.21:
Quote:
If that's the case then the FFUI errors you are getting with the Ultra Skin 6.021 are the result of a data.zip file which doesn't match the version of iGO8 that you are using.
You need the correct data.zip file for the 8.3.2.64029 version of iGO8.

I've given the method to use to correct this problem:
Quote:
The data.zip file for iGO 8.3.2.64029 is dated 7 November 2008 14:41:46

You need to visit https://www.naviextras.com/shop/portal and update your version. This is the only legal way to do this.

I'm beginning to suspect that the version of iGO you have is not legal which would explain the presence of the wrong data.zip file and also explain why you are unable to update the software.

So first visit here and update your version:

https://www.naviextras.com/shop/portal

... and then if the skin doesn't work let me know.

As an iGO user I assume you backed up the original SD Card. The software is locked to the card so you should be able copy the backup to the original card and do a fresh install.

Add Linknet's Skin to the Skin folder in iGO8/Contents.

I can't remember mine having a skin folder and if I remember rightly, I had to add it.

Now go to Settings and change the Skin to Linknet's, you then need to re-start iGO and it should work.

Hello Linknet.
I'm a big fan of your skin and i've been using it for many years now.
Congratulations for your fine work!
I have a question for you.
In the last dimkaspecter skin there is a very useful option (for me, anyway...) that allows us to change the maps used in navigation from teleatlas to navteq and vice-versa.
Are you familiar with that and do you think that is possible to include it in your skin in one of the next revisions?

I'm not that familiar with it but presumably it changes between the map folders on the SD card. Do you know if it requires a restart ?

Having had the loan of an iGO Amigo device for a few weeks I'm hoping that Nav'N'Go will bring out a new version of iGO 8 with a similar interface but including more of the advanced features of iGO 8. So at the moment any further development of the Ultra Skin is on hold unless any more bugs are found.

Regards

Yes, it does change the folders used (renaming them) and yes, it requires a restart to change the maps, but that is done automatically.
I looked into the .ui files and I understand the "mechanics" of it, but putting it to work, well, that's a bit more dificult for me Rolling Eyes

About the Amigo interface, I've only seen the screenshots from some of the skins made for it and I really don't like it.
I don't know why, but it reminds me a kids game, perhaps because of the colors or the icons.
For now I will just stick with my good "old" iGO8 (and your skin, of course! Wink )

linknet,

why do you still refer to version 8.3.2.64029? Even though the latest official update release is:

8.3.2.87762 from Date: Apr 27 2009 - Official Retail R3 PDA Update

As far as I can judge your Ultra Skin 6.0.21 is working fine on this newest version also.

Or do you mean at least version 8.3.2.64029 is needed?
