I agree that adding a custom menu (as described in the last post) is the best way forward - the items you lose are of limited use.
But if you don't want to go down the route of adding a custom menu, you can do this...
Use POIEdit (http://www.poiedit.com/) to manage your POI files.
You can create the files in there and copy them to your map folder.
Then while you are out, you can temporarily save your locations as favourites and when you get back home, open the MapSettings.cfg file in POIEdit, locate the positions you want to save and merge those back into the POI categories you created.
Not perfect by any means, but without a custom menu, it's all you can do on these models. |

If you decide to try the custom menu a slightly more comprehensive menu text is this one:
MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_MAIN|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE1|Main menu 1 of 2|
MENUITEM|TASK_NAVIGATE_TO|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_FIND_ALTERNATIVES|
MENUITEM|TASK_MAINTAIN_POI|
MENUITEM|TASK_ADD_FAVORITE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE2|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Main menu 2 of 2|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PLAN_ATOB|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_MAP|
MENUITEM|TASK_DELETE_ROUTE|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_TRAFFIC|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE1|
I am not 100% sure of the normal default menu on the device you have got, but the above certainly worked on the One Third Edition - Mike |

Here is a menu that comes as close to the ONE v4 as possible with the current App 8.010
MENUBLOCK|BLOCK_MAIN|BTM_GPS_POSITION|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE1|Main Menu 1 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_NAVIGATE_TO|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_FIND_ALTERNATIVES||"Find Alternative"|
MENUITEM|TASK_MAINTAIN_POI|
MENUITEM|TASK_ADD_FAVORITE||"Add Favourite"|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PREFERENCES||"Change Preferences"|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE2|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE2|Main Menu 2 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_PLAN_ATOB||"Prepare Route"|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_MAP||"Browse Map"|
MENUITEM|TASK_MANAGE_MAPS||"Map Corrections"|
MENUITEM|TASK_BUDDIES||"Buddies"|
MENUITEM|TASK_CONFIRM_DELETE_ROUTE||"Clear Route"|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE3|
MENUPAGE|TASK_PAGE3|Main Menu 3 of 3|
MENUITEM|TASK_MENU_TRAFFIC||"TomTom Traffic"|
MENUITEM|TASK_SHOW_WEATHER||"TomTom Weather"|
MENUITEM|TASK_DOC_BROWSER||"Text Browser"|
MENUITEM|TASK_EMPTY|
MENUITEM|TASK_EMPTY|
MENUITEM|TASK_PAGE1|
Note: I have added the text browser, you can view .txt and .html docs on this unit by adding the folder 'text' (without the quotes) to the root directory, and placing your files within that folder. |
