Hello Everyone, just a quick couple of questions about my new AT10. When i zoom in on my 1:50000 map i find the names, trees etc get blurry. For example zoom into 1:8000 and still perfectly readable but all images seem slightly blurred in cluding contour lines. Maybe i am expecting too much.
Second question is the top left button works well but does not click like the others is this ok or will this likely get worse, anyone else seen this before?

The blurring you see is ,I think , a "feature" of raster maps which are bitmap images which eventually will pixelate at high zooms,unlike vector mapping like on Garmin Topo.I don't think it is anything to be concerned about.
If you zoom in further it will take you to the pre-installed road map.
If you are concerned about the button I should give SatMap a call,I am sure they will be able to assist you.The unit has a two year guarentee ( so I read somewhere ) so you should be OK if it does go wrong.

And Garmin Topo is not the same as OS map data.
Take a look at the appallingly poor images you get on an Oregon running OS Data from Garmin here.

It looks to me like they apply anti-aliasing techniques to avoid the image becoming blocky when you zoom in and one map pixel takes up several screen pixels (and I suspect similar when one pixel is less than screen pixel) - the down side is the edges become less distinct - but I think better than becoming huge pixels which is the other choice if they only have one resolution raster image to play with

Looks more like some very heavy compression of the raster image. Compared with solutions from Memory-Map or indeed Satmap it looks very poor when you see it for real.

When you zoom or scroll - you see a sharper image - but the pixels are more evident, but after about 1 second it goes to smoother but less distinct image. - When I looked at the "V" in Stevenage (where the Herts county 1:25000 defaults to), I could even see anti-aliasing from the original raster generation (you see several different greys along the diagonal edge). This blurring (for what of a better word) is I suspect some interpolation type process to give a better display
I can't see any JPEG style artifacts (OS maps with their sharp lines would show up lossy compression) - though it is possible the resolution is lower than other sources (would allow faster access and less cpu work and less reading from card)
