I finally got around to buying a 256Meg SD card as my 128Meg Integral SD was getting a little full.

I've bought a 256Meg SimpleTech ProX from www.clove.co.uk, arrived the day after I ordered it. I've currently got 5 meg free on it as i've just dumped everything I have for the PPC onto it.

Just done two Lands End to John O'Groats route calculations and it did it the first time, aftera soft reset, on my iPAQ 2210, with TTN3, in 46 seconds, and the second time in 44 secinds.

I'm pretty impressed with it for the price :D

Pah! My Lexar 32X 256Mb SD card did LE to JO'G in 15 seconds, but I am using Navman SmartST PRO V2.

Sad It took me 17 seconds with my Panasonic 256 CF card

And I thought CF was faster than SD !

Yes, but my SD is a 32 speed one. Just to cheer you up, it took 23 seconds with my PQI (never heard of them!) CF card. Imagine what a 65 speed CF card could do! Oh, and my iPAQ is a 5555. I'll try them both out on the 3970 sometime to do a comparison.

I'd use a CF card if I didnt prefer my CF GPS receiver over my bluetooth receiver.

Is Navman a lot quicker at calculating routed than TomTom? Or is that just down to your card?

Ican use both, since both of my iPAQs have an SD slot and my GPS is a Navman sleeve, which has a built-in CF slot.

I can't really comment on the speed thing, since I don't own TT3, but I suspect that Navman's software is much quicker, possibly because it doesn't check so many roads/routes.
