I have succesfully managed to create csv files from an application and used the TomTom makeov2.exe to create ov2 files. These work but I would like to add a description to the POI i.e. when I search the POI I just want to see "XXX" but when I select it on the map I want to see "XXX Additional Description". I looked at a few files and it looked as though adding a right arrow (Unfortunatley it will not allow me to submit the post with that character in as it interprets it as HTML code) seemed to do it but I found that if I use that I get "XXX (+Addittional Description)" so presumably this is for a phone number. It would be great if the format options were available. Any ideas? |

The only format as far as I know is:
-5.44130, 50.17613, "Put your own information here"
You can view and edit files in Notepad and save them with the .csv format then convert to .ov2
With Windows you can also make Notepad the default program to open the .csv files if you wish. Saves having to use the SaveAs as well.
I use PoiEdit to convert files between different formats. |

Thanks for the Reply Pocketgps,
As I said I have no problem creating the files.
I have seen POIs where only part of the description shows when searching and a more detailed description shows when selecting on the map; this is what I would like to achieve. |

TomTom use an encrypted file format to add the extra information to some of their POIs |
