Hi,

Sorry if this has been explained before, bust just DL for first time in a few weeks and noticed a 2nd BMP double size picture for each OV2 file. Are these needed on PPC Navigator 6 software, will they be used automatically? Help file link not work and included license file no mention of their use.

Regards, Andrew

We chose to bundle the X2 icons as the v8.3 update for x20's results in the icons being displayed much smaller.

For those devices that support X2 icons they will appear to top left of the map display. For devices that don't support them they will be ignored.

As always with TomTom, knowing exactly what models, software versions etc support them is an ever moving goal-post but no harm will come if you install them on a device that does not support them.

The x2 icons are simply ignored by TomTom Navigator 5,21 or 6,032 or 7 as I have just checked this on one of my devices, just ignore the files they won't do any harm and the POI Warnings still work fine with or without the x2 icons - Mike

Hi,

When did the X2 icons come bundled with the OV2 files on the database?

I have only just noticed them, as normally I just update the OV2 files as I was already using Gerry's larger icons and didn't want them replaced by the old standard default ones. I use the speedzoned ones by the way.

Looks like I no longer have to worry about that and can copy the lot again!

Don't replace them all if you were using Gerry's normal size icons too!

At the moment, the camera download has the OLD style of mobile and Specs icons and the GerryC-style large icons.

Personal choice I suppose, but I think we should standardise on the new ones.

Hi Andy,

Yes just noticed that and I agree with you it would be nice if we used the newer ones, I have also noticed they are 22x22 and not 24x24 as Gerry's are for the map icons.

The reason the icons in the camera download are 22x22 is that these WILL WORK on all TomToms. The 24x24 only work on later versions (v6 onwards from memory). If it wasn't for the change in v8.3, the X2 icons would still be separate.

For consistency across all makes and models as well as the submit page, the original icons are used. Remember that lots of users just download the POIs and are not necessarily aware of the forum or extras. That's the reason they are used by default.

Totally understand and agree about the SIZE having to stay the same, but the actual picture could be changed to be consistent.

I was using something very similar to your icons for mobiles and specs long before the TT was able to use anything bigger than 22x22 and they (and yours) are much more visible on screen than the default "tripod" icon.
