I am not yet very familiar with the smartphone using WM6 and how to use bluetooth on it so this may be an obvious question.

In the past on my PDA with WM2003, I set up a serial connection to my bluetooth GPS receivers and allocated the serial connection to COM8. I have several bluetooth devices (2 old TT-GPS and a GlobalSat for the bike) hardwired into different cars. On WM2003 I go into bluetooth manager, select the GPS device I want to conect and it connects and establishes a serial connection on COM8. Everytime I access COM8 it will then automatically establish a connection to the last GPS device again. If I want to use a different GPS device I just connect to it in bluetooth manager and it then becomes the default on COM8.

However on the smartphone (HTC) with WM6, I can pair all my BT devices but it seems that I have to create a COM port (6 or 7) and allocate it to a particular device. I do not seem to have an option of looking at a list of paired BT serial devices, starting the connection and it is allocated the COM port. It seems that I have to go into the bluetooth settings delete the COM port and then recreate and re-allocate it to another device. Using multiple COM ports is not an option as I would then have to change COM port settings in each application when I change devices.

What I want to do is select GPS1 or GPS2 depending on which car I am in and go from there without reconfiguring everytime.

I also had to do some registry editing to set up the GPS Intermediate Driver which some applications require rather than setting a COM port and I have to set the COM port in these registry settings as well.

Any ideas on how I can set up the bluetooth on the smartphone so I can simply choose which BT GPS unit to use?

I understand what you want to do, but there is no way to get WM5 or WM6 style devices to do what you want.
What type of HTC phone is it you are using as a good number of these have built in GPS which would negate the use of the Bluetooth system - Mike
