If I need to restore my favourites from my back up(wiped by recent TT d/load to 8.3.01), onto my Tom Tom, do they live in "Western Europe" folder or somewhere else.??

Favourites stored in the file MapSettings.cfg found in the specific map folder. Try copying it back from a backup. However, if application is at the 8.3 level, copying back may not work as the application creates a new file overwriting the old. _________________ David |

The problem is that when you put the old MapSettings.cfg file which worked pre 8,300 on to a device running 8,300 or higher the new software will trash the old MapSettings file and create a nice new empty one for you - Mike |

You're absolutely right unfortunately; I guess no work round?
For future is there any way to preserve, assuming TT won't have nous _________________ Gel

Download and install POI Edit from Here with this working use it to open the old MapSettings.cfg file, you will see the contents of your old file. Edit the locations and choose "Save As" ov2 file type - this converts your file to an ov2 POI file which you simply put on the device and use.
In future to prevent this issue don't use Favourites, instead save all locations as Custom POI - there are no limits to the quantity of locations and you can add phone numbers to them should you want to - Mike

Done that; one last thing, assume I plonk the save as, in Western Europe Mike.
Presume not possible to easily transfer/convert favourites into POI's? _________________ Gel

My last post described how to convert Favourites in to an ov2 file, once you have done that you put the custom POI file in to your map folder Western Europe or something similar - Mike |
