Make a fresh download of the Nokia SpeedCam format database.
Right click on your computer desktop and select New/ Folder name the folder PGPSW Cameras
Open the download and extract the files to the "PGPSW Cameras" folder on your desktop.
Double click the folder named "PGPSW Cameras" to view the files it contains.
Right click the file pocketgps_uk_sc.txt and select "Rename"
Type the new file name speedcam.txt
Right click the speedcam.txt file and select "Copy" from the popup.
Connect the phone and locate its drive letter/ symbol in Windows Explorer or whatever application you use to view the folders and files on your phone.
Locate the speedcam FOLDER on the Nokia and right click, select "Paste" from the popup.
Let us know what it does when you start the application and give it a try - Mike |

Just renamed - pocketgps_uk_sc.txt to speedcam.txt and it loaded up 10182 locations so I guess I am up and running. Have I been stupid as I understood that the pgpsw-speed-cams-ZjExd.zip had to be renamed.
Will the other files still be recognised and what about the pocketgps_uk_masters_and_pmobile.txt fike - will I still have the PMobile site warnings??
Also, is there any way of seeing the camera locations on Nokia Maps or can you only tell if its fully working by driving by a camera site?? |

Looks like our posts crossed or were made at the same time!
Great to hear you have worked out what was wrong, once you get used to doing this you will wonder why it was so difficult in the first place - but we all have to start somewhere!
If you want the main database AND the pMobiles you will need to rename the file "pocketgps_uk_masters_and_pmobile.txt" to speedcam.txt and install that to the device in the SpeedCam folder. This will replace the older file which contains the database devoid of pMobile locations - Mike |

Hi Mike, we submitted at the same time - thanks for that, I have been experimenting and found that your detailed description is basically what I have done.
Just got your second reply, OK I will rename pocketgps_uk_masters_and_pmobile.txt and use that.
Finally - just 2 questions
1, What about the other files that come with the data base, I have left them in the speedcam folder on the memory card - should I remove them??
2, Any way of seeing the camera locations on Nokia Maps or can you only tell if its fully working by driving by a camera site?? |

I think Rick-UK is probably better suited to answer these questions as he uses the application, I haven't owned a Nokia fone for around 6 years! - Mike |

1. The only file I used is the one named pocketgps_uk_sc.txt. I think the only difference between this and pocketgps_uk_masters_and_pmobile.txt is the pmobile category. I do not use the graphic files as have never found them to be displayed or what they should be named.
2. The camera locations do not display on the map, just the warning given by the Speedcam app overlay.
You could convert the speedcam file to Nokia Landmarks and they will then display at their location but I did this once and the Nokia maps application became unusable due to the amount of data it was being asked to process. It would take minutes to bring up menu screens, options etc. Deleting the camera landmarks afterwards also took hours as they could only be deleted a few pages at a time or the phone would hang. I can't find where the phone stores landmark info to make it easy to install/remove using a PC. I do not recommend this unless you have hours to spare |
