But if one of the myriad government spy cameras gets confused by them, then jolly good, I say!

And what about ANPR, anti-terrorist etc? ANPR is live and not always manned by a human operator.

I think you probably already know my feelings about how the "threat" of terrorism is being used to seriously erode fundamental civil liberties; but lets not drift even further off-topic here!

I must admit I'm bemused as to why you are so upset about these. Surely there are far more important things to get worked up about?

Well, we are talking about a Speed Camera Database that we use to ensure that we are all complying with the law. Whether or not we agree with it, we are all obliged to comply with it, and thus is a democracy operated. If the law applies to some, and not others, it's not a democracy, it's an oligarchy, or a technocracy, or a plutocracy etc.

The Queen is, as far as I know, exempt from number plate regulations. No-one else. If there is a law saying that number plates have to conform to certain standards, then those that do not are in breach of the law. Some might say that it's a little breach, and should be ignored. Some might say that speeding is a little breach, and should be ignored. (Some might say that murder is a little breach, and should be ignored.) Big breach or little breach, illegal number plates should be a cause for police to stop a vehicle, just as too heavily tinted windows, dodgy suspension, speeding and excessive noise should be cause for a police stop. Those who break the law do so in the knowledge that they are risking being pulled up for it.

Except, it would seem, those with illegal number plates.

If the law is unenforceable and unenforced, ditch the law. Otherwise, make it enforceable and enforce it. That goes for any law, else everyone with a legal number plate who is stopped by the police under "suspicion" of doing something illegal is being victimised, because of those scoff-laws with illegal plates who are not being stopped when there is no doubt they are doing something illegal.

Thin end of the wedge, Andy_P. No-one should be above the law.

Clap I couldn't agree more. There was a time (and still is for some people) when drink driving was just a little breach and you can find loads of quotes in this forum of just a little breach of the speed law "inadvertently" (otherwise incorrectly known as "without care and attention", "careless" or "dangerous"). For some people, the difference between just a little breach and a big breach, is the mere coincidence that a two year old didn't step off the pavement at the "wrong" moment.

While you're at it, what about the D**Heads that drive with foglights on totally ignoring the fact that there is no 'fog or falling snow'. Rolling Eyes

Annnnnd on that note, time gentleman please!

No issues with the debate but can we move it to its own thread rather than muddle up this one please?

Howdy new member here, I use the A127 on a daily basis at all hours of the day and have to say that it seems to have improved traffic flow at peek times. I do however think there should be a time control on them as it is crazy having to do 50mph along there when its you and 3 other cars on the stretch of road.

On the same subject my TT 530 has just this week had SOME of the camera added along this stretch despite notitying TT via the device every day and by emailing there Customer Services. Does anyone else have this trouble with TT camera database being complete toilet!!

Same problem on the A130 canvey way not one of the camera is on the database as of last night.

Welcome and Howdy back. And nope, I've never had that trouble with TT camera database - because I've been using the PocketGPSWorld one since 2005! Every time I get a new TT, it amuses me to leave their cameras on for a few days, just to prove to myself what a wise decision it was to get the pgpsw one.

Welcome
I suspect the most people using the TT database finds it pants, especially if they compare it with ours. Sad Now you have found us, you have also found the best database around, with a totally transparent camera submission and verification policy. Invest the £20, find a new camera and you'l be awarded a free lifetime membership if you are the first to accurately report its presence. Very Happy

How does this one work, does it auto update when you connect up TT or is a copy and paste of data etc

It's manual copy but very simple to do.
