Greetings.

Have a look at the Tabs at the top of the page under 'GPS Central', there is a link there to Hardware reviews. Some of them are a little old for the older models, but give you a good idea what each system has/not has.

The TT One XL is widescreen with Euro maps.

A couple of things you need to know mind, do you want GB or Euro maps or both. Do you want hands free for mobile phone. Do you want a lot of POIs. Do you want mp3 and removable memory.
Not exhaustive, but may help you decide.

Good hunting.

If you give us your basic requirements and budget we can suggest models that fit the bill which we would recommend?

Look at the basic TomTom ONE then or the XL if you prefer a wide-screen display.

The Nuvi is another good option, I didn't suggest Garmin as you had previous experience of TomTom but it's just as capable albeit the interface and implementation is quite different.

It's not great but then I wouldn't advise using any of them on battery alone unless absolutely necessary.
