Displaying New POI database... Problems!

As a newbie to TomTom and checkPOInt. I am having problems displaying new POI's on map. I have checked the "overlay" box in the "properties" of the relevent .ov2 file in CheckPOInt and also checked the relevent box in the menu of tomtom PROPERTIES, POI tab.. What Am I doing wrong.
Also, after installing a new database in Checkpoint, and checking the overlay box in properties of the ov2 file, the relevent POI's do not always seem to appear in the Tomtom, properties,POI menu??
