Further to my post on Dec 4th, I can report that my GO920 (apart from stuttering and slow refresh) worked flawlessly on a trip from Colchester to Brussels and back! Very Happy

I was running with RDS-TMC, BT handsfree, FM Radio as well!

Not one reload or lock-up.

So in conclusion running Navcore 8.30 and map WE8.15 did introduce a few problems, but it fixed many more for me. Very Happy

Here's a depressing thing (at least to me....)

A NA forum poster reports that Support told him the remedy for the stuttering was to run the Clear Flash tool. While he reports it seems to have worked, I'm depressed because:

1. I'm sure the remedy will turn out to be temporary
2. More importantly, if this is as close as TT is to a solution for the problem, I fear a true firmware 'fix' is not going to be imminent as clearly TT has no clue as yet as to what is really causing the stuttering. Twisted Evil

Dave, i got that same message in one of their helpfull replies Laughing but by the time i got it the whole v7 Kate had been found and used to fix my stuttering. I have used the flash tool since but the refresh is still slow. I don't know about the stuttering as i said i already had v7 Kate by then.!

Well I have the voice stutter on my tomtom 520t since the update to version 8.300, sent tomtom an email, they got me to go through the normal process of formatting the hard drive, re-load the latest software from tomtom home, then re-load the computer voice. This took me about 2 hours and hey-presto, we still have the stutter. I have made 2 phone calls to tomtom support over the last 2 days, the first one they have no record of, the 2nd one they inform they were going to return my call with a solution, am I surprised, no return call! Has anybody got any idea when tomtom are going to come up with a solution for this mess? or are we going to have to just sit and wait!

You don't have to sit and wait, you can always just revert to where you were before the update.

Since installing version 8.3 navcore and subscribing to the map service to give me v8.15 maps I have had numerous problems. After numerous email exchanges they finally had me rolling on the floor. They sent a lengthy email explaining how to remove the navcore 8.3 and install 8.010. What sound advice as the new maps no longer work with this navcore. They did not seem to be aware of this?
They have now advised to live with the buggy version as they are working on a new navcore to be released soon (whatever that means).
So if I revert back to the old navcore and older maps I have wasted the money on the new quartlerly map update service. I loose out all ways round.

I seem to have got rid of the stuttering, without installing v7 Kate!

TT customer support suggested that there was a corrupt file causing the problem. Rather than follow their long and convuluted fix, as I had created a full copy of Navcore V8.3 when I 1st upgraded, I:

1 formatted the TT
2 reinstalled Navcore V8.3 from the backup
3 cleared flash. Thumbs Up

Stuttering now seems to have stopped Surprised

Perhaps this is a similar problem seen on earlier Navcore versions where deleting the GNSDATA file provided a temporary fix Question

Installed newest versions firmware and Western Europe map, rarely a drumroll, no computer voices, they simply don't work, despite TomTom support telling me how to uninstall all instance of Kate and reinstall. Very annoying as I like being told the name of the road!

Here's a new bug for you - Delete POI.
When you select the POI to delete, the only buttons you get are Back and Dial - no Delete button. But tap the Dial button and the POI is deleted.

App8.300, Map815

App8.010, Map810

I have been badgering TT for an update over the last couple of days as twice they have promised me either updated voices or updated Navcore to fix all of the stuttering/delay/lag issues (including RDS-TMC delay data now being in kph). All of the 'later this week' promises are now a good two weeks out of date and they don't seem to have a clue what to do or say next.

I am seriously considering contacting trading standards as I have paid for an updated map that I need an updated application to use and now my TT is basically useless as a navigation device - it was hundreds of yards behind me on the motorway today - I had turned off at a junction and was approaching the roundabout and the TT still had me just about to get on the slip road!

They have made some cock ups before, but now they seem to have gone very quiet on this one and are avoiding answering questions such as 'When are you going to fix this?'

If you haven't already raised a support call with them get one raised and don't take NO for an answer.

Rant over.

Andy

Hi AndyVaughan
Please forgive me for repeating myself, but I’m still one of those that are running trouble free with my 720. Not one stutter or lag on the refresh. I use the device every day and have travelled many miles since the updates. Yesterday I travelled as a passenger on a three hour journey and kept my eyes glued to the TomTom waiting for a fault to appear. It behaved perfectly as usual. I'm not bragging about this, I am just stating a fact.

So what’s the answer? What could cause two apparently identical devices to behave so differently? I must admit I have never used or even switched on IQ routing, never bothered with the FM and neither do I belong to the map share. But I do use it for navigating allot. I think Topgazza summed the whole saga up by saying ‘Its just one of life’s mysteries’.

Stuttering computer voice on my 720, however map refresh seems ok. Bloody annoying having all my favourites wiped, and my alerts cancelled, each time. Evil or Very Mad

Indeed.

The only thing I have done differently from Trevor is to use the Mapshare update. I have IQ turned off and don't use FM....mind you neither have I installed any other POIs or Cameras other then what it came with.

Not done as many trips but no stutter and no lag. If it continues like this I will not be loading Navcore 8.31 when its released....if it ain't broke.......
