Can anyone advise please. I have a new Go 520. I have downloaded and unzipped the safety camera database and have tried to paste them into both the maps & POI folders on my unit. They appear to paste OK but when I try to manage POI's/warn when near to POI's, they do not show in the list. I do not have a SD card as yet so could it be that they will only install on to an SD card. I have downloaded and installed my selection of POI's and they do appear in the list. Is there a specific folder on the TomTom for safety cameras as I cannot see one so named?

Finally does anyone know of a programme that will update my TomTom automatically to save all the hassle?

Thanks in anticipation of your help

Can you view the device with Windows Explorer (connect the unit to the PC and shut down TomTom Home software if it starts up) open the device drive letter and go to the Map folder, can you see the POI files listed and do they end with the file extension .ov2

Your 520 won't have an SD card fitted if its new, the bit of plastic in the slot is simply a blank to prevent dirt getting in the device - all files and folders will be stored on the internal Flash Memory within the device - Mike

Hi

Thanks for your quick response. Yes the whole directory is visible in windows explorer as are the appropriate OV2 & BMP files when pasted into the appropriate folder. The problem is that I am not sure precisely which folder to paste these files in order for them to appear in the manage POI's/warn me folder in TomTom navigator. I would have thought that there would be a specific Safety camera folder but not so. Reading through the various articles on this site it does appear that the files should indeed be copied into the POI folder but, as stated, when I do that, they do not appear in the ManagePOI's/Warn me..... folder. The POI files proper that I have copied into the POI folder are visible in the MangePOI's/Warn me.... folder.

Hope this makes sense.

The POI files should go straight into your map folder there is no POI folder on a TomTom device.
Your map folder will be named "United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland" put the POI files which will be ov2 and bmp format into the map folder and you will find them listed in the Warn When Near POI options for setting the warnings - Mike

The POI Folder contains the TLV files associated with TT's own POIs.

If you don't use the TT POIs then the POI Folder is not created.

Thanks again for the response. My fault, there is actually a folder named"maps" and that is where I had pasted the camera files. After your last post I looked more carefully and yes there is a folder called United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland" so I pasted the camera files there and bingo they are now showing in Navigator as they should be. The words trees and wood spring to mind but I will just put it down to my age.
Incidentally, there is actually a folder named "poi" but I am now ignoring that.

Thanks again for your help and patience.

Regards
