I work as a taxi driver in Aberdeen and could cover any area in the UK. I currently have a GO520 and was looking to upgrade to the new GO540. Is it worth upgrading??

I have read lots about the good & bad points but don't want to shell out more money if its rubbish.

Any help would be great.

It depends upon whether you value the Live services.

I have switched to a 540 and with, admittedly limitage usage, have found the HD traffic to be a huge improvement over TMC (although not faultless - you are relying on other Vodafone users to be stuck in a jam before it's reported) and the alternative routes offered may not include the small lanes that locals would be aware of.

The speed camera data will be useful, particularly the active live mobile cameras, once a few more people are reporting them but I have still loaded the PGPS camera database onto mine for now at least.

The fuel prices option seems to work fairly well and googling on e.g. Indian restaurants in my area gave a comprehensive and accurate reply.

It's still not satnav Utopia (will we ever get there) but I think it's a major step forward from anything else on the market.

Far easier to open a new Tomtom account with a new email address.

Yes, that's what I did, I now have 2 accounts with different e-mail addresses depending upon whether I am updating my 540 or my son's 720
