In other words, If I was in Cornwall, I could still search for supermarkets in "Glasgow"

Only if you know the POI name! I wanted to go somewhere once, but the name of the POI didn't have the right details. It was sort of like "Town centre" in the Tesco POI list, rather than being "Tesco Glasgow Centre".
This is something that is being worked on.

In the Submission Guidelines - POI database it is suggested that the way to go is to use "Enter the Town/City/District in which the POI is located or near followed by a name/additional text."

This means that if you are searching, for example, the Tesco POI then inputting Glasgow in the Find Menu would list ALL the Tescos in Glasgow.

The majority of the POIs that exist where created, in some cases, more than 4 years ago and the Title Text was the Creators own personal preference. This is why there are so many variations.

Why have TT put:

POI near you Crying or Very sad

Does not make any sense.

In what way doesn't it make sense?

It gives you the nearest POIs to your current location. Confused

Well on my Garmin and Medion systems you just get a list of ALL poi's, in there different categories, close or not. Starting from your current location or last known.

Why should TT limit this to the nearest 24-48 near you Exclamation

But that wasn't what you asked before.

You asked why TomTom have put "POI near you" and said it doesn't make sense. Surely it does make sense to show the POIs in order of distance from your chosen location, whether that be home, a specified address, or your current location.

Why they only display 24 or 48 is another matter entirely.

OK. Well without nit-picking Wink , why limit it to a close location or only the first 24-48 depening on your system.

As I said on my last post, Garmin and Medion don't do that Laughing

No-one except TomTom knows PRECISELY why, but presumably it is a memory or performance issue why they have limited it.

I do wonder though...

If a Garmin or Medion lists ALL the entries in a POI category, how on Earth do you find the particular Tesco store in Glasgow when you are hundreds of miles away in Cornwall and are presented with a mammoth list starting with the closest ones?

Surely you would need to use a "search" feature, in which case you are in exactly the same position as you are with the TomTom search (which I repeat, doesn't just search the 48 entries shown)..
