hi, I added the speed zoned cam files to my tomtom one, (the very first one) and now there is no sound. The tomtom drums play on a reset. Does anyone have any advice?

Have you also got the .ogg files in the same folder, they need to have EXACTLY the same file name.
Example
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.bmp (this is the little picture)
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ov2 (location file)
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ogg (spoken altert)

When you set up the warning distances did it ask you to select a warning or just confirm a warning?

Hi, I put both files in the map folder and there is no sound for navigation at all.

Seems to be the same issue as seen here;

the bmp and ov2 for all the different camera types. not to worried about the spoken alerts, although if I can get sound working might have a look. It is all sound that isn't working so no directions or anything. (Other than the drum roll at reboot).

Stevie,

Have you tried any of the suggestions in the thread you linked to?

Have you tried updating the firmware (don't forget to do a Windows Explorer backup 1st)
Have you got a backup you could try?

If you get the drum roll that shows the speaker is physically working, have you tried a demo route that takes you past a speed cam, to see if any alerts work?

demo has no sound. I'll try a firmware update after another backup. I was hoping there was a definitive fix.

This has nothing to do with our database, purely coincidental.

What happens when you select a voice, do you hear the test?

What has corrupted what files?

As Darren says, simply adding some voice files cannot kill the audio.

Either "something else" got deleted or corrupted during the copy process, (maybe by pulling out the USB lead without doing a "safely remove hardware") or another fault has happened purely coincidentally.

If you look on your device using Explorer, do you still have a voices folder ?

It should be in the root directory, not inside any other folder, and are there any files in it.

thanks for your thoughts everyone

the voice file is still there and has four files in it. there is no sound when I press test in the voice selection menu.

must be a coincidence about the pgps files and the problem no inference meant there.

is there anyway i can get a copy of all the original files. i have the map saved but im concerned i messed up the rest of the backup. plus I know I can reinstall the firmware via home by deleting the loose files.

I would suspect it's the system files rather then the voice files that need replacing.
Force Home to redownload by deleting the loose files from the Go (NOT any folders) and also the contents of the Home/downloads/program folder on the PC (in case it is corrupted there too.)

the no sound is common problem with the v one
the way you descibe no sound in navigation
would point to speaker failure
i know 2 people who had same problem as you
returned unit to tomtom new speaker fitted
job sorted
