Hi,
I had a problem with my Go 730 and decided to restore from the backup. However, when it got to the gns folder, it stopped with the error message Cannot copy gnsdata, the file or directory is corrupted or unreadable.
I copied all the other files from my PC, leaving the original gns folder on the 730 and as far as I can tell it's working OK.
I then tried to copy the gns folder from the 730 onto my PC, and got the same error message.
Can anyone tell me what the gns folder does, and if it's corrupt on my 730 and the back-up, is this something that can be downloaded without breaking the copyright rules, or does the machine have to go back? |

Tom, I wouldn't worry about that file, it contains some of the data for the RDS-TMC, the file will be replaced when you update the device, in fact some of us found that deleting the file cures some of the other handsfree related problems.
If you need the files though I will send them via e-mail, which version AND build are you running, it will look something like version 8,010 (9876) It is the numbers in the brackets I need to locate the correct file from my archive - Mike |

Thanks for the response. My 730 is the 730T, and I use the traffic through the plug in aerial. (Not the HD version) Does that mean I need the data in this folder? If so my e-mail is tom.davison and my ISP is talktalk.net.
Application is 8.010(9369/080529
OS 190943
Map is Western and Central Europe 2GB v800.1762

Tom, I will send you the correct files later when I get back to the PC - the 730 and 730T devices are the same units, the simply denotes the receiver is in the box when purchased - Mike |
