Thank you, I will 'play' with the program and find out more about it.

I will also delete one of the duplicates to see what effect this may have.

Regards

Also you will see many duplicated entries in the right pane which I assume are favorites and are now also POI's (See my post above) will deleting the duplicates here affect either favorites or my new POI file?

Don't forget... you are OPENING a copy of the MapSettings.cfg file (which deals with your favourites), but you are not resaving it as MapSettings.cfg, so your original Favourites will NOT be affected in any way (POIEdit is unable to save to .cfg format anyway).

Once you've opened it, you can happily delete any duplicates and also any other places you don't want in your new POI category. It's entirely your choice what places you keep.
Then you save it from POIEdit as an .ov2 POI file.

Once you've made your new POI category, and it's all working to your satisfaction, you'll then want to manually delete the locations from your Favourites using the TomTom's menus.

Thanks jurowla for that fantastic tip. I was able to move my cfg file from my 720 to my new XL live IQ and with the tip about adding a favorite using the TomTom Home application it all worked. My faves are all there as are my PocketGPS speedcam warnings. Mind you, it took me an hour, though mostly because I was trawling through my cfg file using POIEdit in case it didn't work.

If only I could resave the cfg file after editing the favorites and recent destinations!
