Welcome to the forum, I assume you didn't make a full backup of the device before any of the upgrades were applied to the device? If you did make a back up this device should be recoverable, if you didn't make one I would return it to the shop and state it didn't work when you got it home, this will be the easy option to recovery.
When you get your replacement device you need to do a few things:
DO THIS BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE WITH IT
1/ A full back up using Windows Explorer
2/ Create a new account for the new device using TomTom Home with its own unique e-mail address, this is one of the strange requirements that TomTom insist upon, each device must be registered using its own e-mail. Make sure Home is using the account assigned to the 930 rather than your One XL when you do anything via the PC.
3/ Update the device so it is running 8,010 software
4/ Use the Latest Map Guarantee to download/ install the v810 map
5/ Assuming you get as far as this make yet another full Windows Explorer backup
6/ If your latest map guarantee only lets you update the Western & Central Europe Map but not the North American map the telephone number for TomTom support is 0845 161 0009 as this does seem to be a frequent issue - Mike |

I should have included a link to the FAQ page where you will find links to various important information covering backups and similar, you can locate the FAQ page by clicking Here - at least the shop the did the decent thing letting you exchange it - Mike |
