Cheers for the reply, Well went into Comet and was told there now upgrading all TomTom sold to the traffic version so at the moment im quite set on the 730T for £215 Cant really argue. One thing (yet another) i love to research before i buy i noticed on a site i use (www.hotukdeals.com) a new Sept 08 RDS reciever was advertised at £14.99 (now gone up...):-

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0019JDDB4

Is this going to be the same as included in the traffic pack? How well does this compare to the previous version? Hoping to get this picked up by end of week but keep finding out more and adds more questions!?

The RDS in the picture I've just looked at in that link is the most recent one - it is different in that it is all-in-one with the Mini USB connector to the GO. Visible differences are that this latest one has the USB connector and the black blob is rectangular. The one probably in the box has a jack plug which fits into a different hole in the GO and the black blob is lozenge, oval shaped. Mine is the lozenge and works perfectly well enough. With "my" configuration you have two wires going into the GO, therefore two to unplug. The other has only one plugging into the GO, with the ciggy lighter adaptor plugging into the rectangular thing (I think).

PS Don't even THINK about using it not plugged into the ciggy lighter.

PPS Don't even THINK about using it until AFTER you've done a complete backup using Windows Explorer (to copy and paste everything from the GO into a folder on your PC).

Thanks for the info, I was wondering how these compared if at all to the Oval one you mentioned. Hoping to pick my new GPS this week although might hold off while (next week) see if the release of the x40s knocks a tenner or so off! (Penny pinching!...)

The new RDS does seem to work well. Some say better than the older one, I don't know as i've never tried the older one.

One thing though is that it only works when powered up. So if your car socket turns off when you turn off the ignition, it loses it's signal and has to find it again next time you start up. On my car that even happens if you've been on accessories then you start the engine, because power to the socket is lost while the starter motor is engaged.
