Hi there
I have used TomTom for years on my PDA and have bought lots of maps V5 and V6
I am about to purchase TomTom Go on the 500 or 700 series.
Can anyone tell me if I can use my existing maps?
I really don't want to chuck them all out and buy new ones again................... |

You can't use your old maps, but you won't have to. The new tomtom will come with maps.
If you are asking "can I buy a tomtom with UK maps and add my european ones from the PDA". Again - you can't. And to be honest I don't think you would want to as the newer maps have access to a lot more data and include features like lane guidance.
Bear in mind that you don't own the map, you just own a licence to use one copy of a map that TT own on one machine. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

In all cases when you get the device the map may well be something other than the very latest, but all these devices are supplied with a latest map Guarantee card which allows you to update to the latest map for free by downloading it
If you go for the 520 or 530 you will get the very latest v810 map included with the purchase, this device has full UK & ROI mapping installed with space for an SD card where you can add maps later if you want.
The 720 or 730 will again come with the very latest v810 maps but this unit has Western Europe installed, this often works out to be a cheaper option than going for the 520/ 530 with extra maps.
The 920/ 930 comes with full Europe and North America, again this comes with the latest map.
I really wouldn’t go after the 500 or 700 devices, they were great in their day, but compared to the very latest devices they are somewhat restrictive and will not offer all the features you get with the newer units - Mike |
