Have just purchased the Great Britain & Republic of Ireland from v715 to v810 for £13.90 (cost -75%) inc vat and the Update Service for £27.80 inc vat and installed successfully to my 520.

There are currently no MapShare corrections available for this map.

Prior to installing the update, I did an Explorer backup. I'm glad I did, for all my Favourites and Warnings had been removed. A copy of the old Mapsettings.cfg file from the backup resolved the problem.

I've not taken a trip yet, but will report any glitches!

The v810 maps have been around for some weeks now so there should be Map Share updates available for your map. If I may guess, I think you're experiencing the same thing as I do after installing Home 2.4 - that MapShare stopped working. I had the v810 map for Scandinavia installed before updating TT Home and the number of map corrections in use was 4270. After the update of TT Home there are 0 map corrections in use for the same map. At the same time no countries are listed in Map Share preferences. Something has happened with MapShare, that's obvious. If it's linked to TT Home or the Map Share server is hard to tell though.

I updated to the latest map which is 2 quarters old for £9.90 and the 4 quarterly updates for £19.80. Was wondering how it was as cheap as £4.95 a quarter for me and other people are dearer. I have a 710 with UK&ROI map. is this why.

Users in NA (including me) also had their mapshares wiped out upon installing 2.4. I do have a case log filed with TT Support in North America -- for all the good that'll do.

So, I currently have map V710 of Europe on my 720, being offered WE map for £29.85 and sub a £9.95 / quarter - If I chose to upgrade to the GB map at £49.95 instead - (dont really need europe) would I then get -

a) offers of the 1 year subs plan. (presumably cheaper than £9.95 ?

b) A more detailed map of GB (Poi's etc)

Thanks

To update my problem with buying the new maps, I have now installed Home 2.4 on the Mac and the same problem exists, still Error Code 203 when I hit confirm order.
Have sent all of the details to TT so they can chew over it.

I have also asked them to put a note on my account as I suspect that as soon as Oct 1st comes the price of my new map will go up with the start of the new quarter if this hasn't been rectified by then!

I stand to be corrected, but the detail on the two maps will be the same for GB - it's just that the Europe map goes further than the English Channel!

I'm no good at sums, so you'll have to work it out for yourself :-
GB = £49.95 plus 4 x £6.95.
Europe = £29.85 plus 4 x £9.95.
Using my instant mental arithmetic, I make it cheaper to go with Europe.

Well.......I see the bug in why mapshares will get wiped out, at least in my case.

When I open the preference for mapshares window in 2.4, it shows via the slider what my setting is. It also shows in the bottom right of the window the size of the mapshares on my map and the size that WILL be on the map if I click on the 'accept' button. In ALL settings, even a looser setting (less restrictive) than I have, the size that will be on the map is ZERO!!

So, that's the bug in the coding and why mapshares can get wiped out.

Cute, eh? On Fire

I have the same problem. New 520g, installed today with home 2.4 and upgraded to navcore 8.10 and 810 uk/gb map.

Everything is working fine except no mapshare. shows 0 items for the map, and no countries available on the country screen.

Also when I plug the device in the mapshare option disappears off the front menu in home, maybe thats normal?

Well I've just been paid today and thought I'd update to the latest maps with the update service. Only typical Tomtom, doesn't accept Maestro as a payment method, and I don't use a credit card.

Is that a good enough excuse to go out and buy a 540 when they come out? Laughing

I have downloaded Home 2.4 and installed it, but am not being offered a map updsate service. Ccould this be because I am only running a TT 510 running version 7.162 and not the later V 8 that is not yet available to me?

I have been trying to update my map through Home V2.4 quite a few times and each time I try it no matter what time of the day I get the following error message

"Error!

The Internet server had an internal error. It may be a temporay problem please try later..."

I just cant seem to get it to work

Hi Steve,
looks like you are in the same position as me. Make sure you log it with TomTom as I have - the more the merrier and perhaps they might deal with it a little quicker.

This is TomTom's advice on the no mapshare issue from my ticket - I don't have the unit with me at the moment to try and see if it helps:

If you receive an error while you are downloading Mapshare Corrections via TomTom Home 2.x, then please do the following:-

STEP 1

Disconnect your TomTom from your computer
Close TomTom Home on your PC
Deactivate Map Share from main menu - map corrections - Download corrections - Leave - Yes
Tap onto 'Change Preferences reset factory settings'.
Connect your TomTom to your computer

STEP 2

You will need to delete your existing Map Corrections, to do this, please view the following website:
www.tomtom.com/7269

Your Mapshare Corrections should now have been removed.

STEP 3

Switch the TomTom On
Tap onto 'Map Corrections Correction Preferences', tap onto 'Join'.
Tick all the mapshare options e.g. 'Corrections I made myself' etc.
Select the option 'Always share my corrections with others'. Press Done.
Select 'Show Report Button'.

Once you have done this, connect the TomTom to the computer. Open TomTom Home and update your TomTom again, TomTom Home will redownload all the mapshare corrections that you need.
